Inspired to create a one-of-a-kind tribute to the city she loves, Leslie Little piloted this dramatic album of quotes from Paris-loving writers, dramatists, artists, and other celebrated figures for whom the city was also ne plus ultra, paired with vivid photographs by Jim Scholz that almost seem to sparkle. The 129 images truly evoke the city of light, with numerous full-page and double-page photos (31 inches across) that include a sweeping view of Beaubourg at the Centre Pompidou, a nighttime stroll along the Champs-Elysées, the arched ceiling of Notre Dame, and the Place Vendôme at twilight. The words of Cole Porter, Victor Hugo, Henry Miller, Paul Verlaine, Simone de Beauvoir, Coco Chanel, Voltaire, Honoré de Balzac, Oscar Wilde, Paul Cézanne, Gertrude Stein, and Anaïs Nin float over the photos on vellum leaves, and the gilt-edged pages are bound in an embossed cloth cover with metallic silk-screened printing. This deluxe book is presented in a limited edition of 1,000 copies with a silkscreened, clothbound clamshell case and a hand-signed print by Scholz.
